I use this as an alternative to hot sauce because I can't handle large amounts of red hot pepper like cayenne pepper. I add a bit of heat to this sauce, usually about a pinch or two of cayenne pepper. You can easily about ¼ teaspoon or more if you desire heat with your smoky flavor. And if you prefer, you can use sweet paprika if you don't have the smokey version.
