There are lots of guacamole recipes out there, but here’s a basic one that never fails me. It’s so simple to make. You need just garlic, lemon juice, and avocados.
Avocados are a great way to get a boost of healthy fat and nutrients in one beautiful green package. You’ll get a dose of things like potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid, along with the healthy fat that will help your body to absorb the fat-soluble nutrients in this fruit. And it tastes great with these nacho cheese chips.
Here are some things you can add to this recipe when the mood (or ingredient) strikes you:
- chopped tomato
- mayonnaise (makes it creamier)
- minced chili peppers or jalapeño
- lime juice instead of lemon juice
- salsa
Guacamole {quick & easy}
Equipment
- Potato masher or fork
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice or lime juice
- 1 garlic clove peeled and pressed or minced
- 2 avocados
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Slice each avocado the long way and use your hands to separate the two halves. Take out the pit using your fingers, or gently insert a knife into the pit to pull or twist it out.
- Scoop out each avocado with a spoon. Combine all the ingredients into a bowl and mash with a fork or masher.
- Eat! Store covered in the refrigerator for a few days.
This quacamole is just what I was looking for. What are the chips you have pictured with it and what is the recipe? they look great.
Laura, I added the nacho cheese chips link to the post. Thanks for reminding me. They’re here: https://comfybelly.wpengine.com/2011/02/nacho-cheese-chips-using-almond-flour/
This is the only way I make guacamole. Adding anything else is sacrilege! 😉
Erica,
Plan to try this and your chocolate pudding recipe substituting carob powder….Shared your website with my sil who is a holistic nutritionist on East Coast, New Hampshire area, and she recently shared with Leap diet group, about 300 dietitians, whose primary nutritionist now loves your website, as well. Keep up the good work…Nutrition is so key and since I am at present unwilling to give up sweets, your recipes give our family healthier alternatives in that area, as well as other foods. Favorite recipe website for me, especially my one daughter who is the one I need to satisfy…
Cool – thanks Michelle!
Mmmm, we make this, but add some cilantro! So good. 🙂
Do you have any grain-free serving suggestions? I bought some avocados yesterday to chop up in my chicken enchilada stew, but have a few leftover. This Texas gal is used to eating them on tortilla chips!
Do you mean besides almond flour? I can’t think of any other grain-free serving ideas that are chips, but guacamole is great on salads too!
oh, yeah! love it.
