Toasted pepitas are my favorite toasted seed. They have a light, airy crunch and make a great soup and salad topping, or just munch on a handful along with a glass of sparkling water or other refreshing beverage.
Pepitas are shelled pumpkin seeds that are packed with dense micronutrients like magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, and zinc. They're also rich in essential amino acids and contain healthy fats, along with a small amount of carbohydrates and fiber.
I flavored this batch of pepitas with a balance of sweet, salty, and spicy ingredients. I usually stay low key with just some smoked paprika but you can also add a pinch or two of cayenne pepper or ancho chili powder for some heat. A few other great additions are a bit of cardamom, black pepper, and cloves.
Here are some others to try:
- Toasted Pumpkin Seeds and Pepitas
- Chili Lime Pepitas
- Olive oil and Salt Toasted Pepitas
- Candied Pepitas
